A BUSINESS focused on pets and their health has been praised for looking after its people.

PetPlace has been awarded a prestigious Investors in People Silver Award.

The company – which has stores in Ruthin, Chirk, Mold, Llangefni and Abergele, and a head office in Mochdre – has excelled in multiple areas, including leadership and management.

Managing director Sion Pritchard and the team have motivated staff to achieve objectives and use their initiative, shown strength in designing job roles that will take the business forward, and encouraged employees to work collaboratively and understand the markets and communities in which the organisation works.

Sion paid tribute to their dedicated workforce and said while their focus is on supplying top-quality products and services for animals, they are committed to realising the potential of all staff.

“I am incredibly proud of everyone at PetPlace, they work tirelessly to support our loyal customers and provide the best possible service for people and their pets,” he said.

“In turn we put a lot of emphasis on training and personal development, growing together as individuals and a collective.”

Sion added: “We have had a positive 12 months, launching the new dog play park, coffee bar and cinema in Abergele, and rebranding the business.

“There are big plans for the future of PetPlace and this award shows we have the team in place to help take us to the next level.”

Investors in People (IiP) is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage effectively to achieve sustainable results.

Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate PetPlace as Investors in People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, and an organisation committed to achieving success by realising the potential of their people.

“They should be extremely proud of their achievement.”

Thousands of organisations work with Investors in People, from Sainsbury’s to Vauxhall, to evolve their talent management, whilst developing a supportive and engaging people management strategy.
