A GROUP of kind-hearted cyclists are on track to raise thousands of pounds for a life-saving charity.

Twelve members of Ruthin Cycling Club (Clwb Seiclo Rhuthun) will take on the Eryri/Snowdonia 360-mile challenge in aid of Wales Air Ambulance.

Led by organiser Gary Owen, the riders – all aged 55 to 70 years old – aim to collect £5000+ for the organisation, which requires £8million a year to keep its four helicopters in the sky so doctors and nurses can be anywhere in the country within 20 minutes.

The route will navigate spectacular scenery, hills, and mountains, taking in Anglesey, the Llyn Peninsula and North Wales coast, beginning in Ruthin and ending in the town via Porthmadog, Bala, Barmouth, Aberdaron, Caernarfon, Holyhead, Llandudno and more.

They plan to complete the gruelling journey within four days from June 23.

“The charity is close to all of our hearts, covering every mile of Wales, day in day out, delivering lifesaving medical care to people of all ages, whenever and wherever they need it,” said Gary.

“They really need our support which is why as a team we decided to take on the Eryri/Snowdonia 360.”

He added: “We have raised almost £2,000 so far and are targeting the £5,000 mark, but we would really like to smash through that and achieve even more.

“We are training hard ahead of next month and have been on several rides of more than 100 miles or more in preparation. We might be all aged 55 or over but we feel fitter than ever and ready to go!”

“We have had amazing support and hope even more people will get behind us; you never know when you might need the Wales Air Ambulance, so please give generously.”
